Mesut Ozil Set To Sign New Contract With Arsenal

Arsenal are increasingly confident they will be able to reach agreement with Mesut Ozil over a new contract.

The UK Mirror reports that there have more positive talks, with Ozil himself making it clear that he has no plans to leave the Emirates.

The German playmaker has been locked in a contract stand-off for months as he has been demanding £350,000-a-week, while Arsenal have offered £280,000-a-week.

However, Ozil has not been courted by other clubs like Alexis Sanchez, who also has one year left on his deal.

Ozil came back happy after the summer holidays and has been a hugely popular figure on Arsenal’s pre-season tour to Australia and now China. But there is greater concern over Sanchez, who is attracting interest from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

Both players can sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs from January 1, 2018.

Sanchez Exit Looms As PSG Director Arrives London To Finalize Deal

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director, Antero Henrique, is in London to try and tie up a deal for Arsenal striker, Alexis Sanchez.

Le Parisien reports that PSG are determined to land the Chile international this summer, to spearhead their bid for domestic and European glory in the coming campaign.

Sanchez has one year left on his current deal at the Emirates and recently said he would love to play in the Champions League.

Arsene Wenger is confident of keeping hold of the players, but the Gunners are reluctant to let him leave for free in 12 months’ time and could be tempted to cash in.
PSG have also been linked with a world-record swoop for Neymar, and boss Unai Emery said: “PSG wants the best players in the world, who are in the best clubs in the world.”

We Have Taken A Decision On Sanchez - Wenger

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, has insisted that they have taken a decision not to sell Alexis Sanchez this summer and promised to stick to it.

Wenger was quizzed on Sanchez’s future on Tuesday, after the Chile striker admitted he wants to play Champions League football next season.

The Frenchman, talking at a pre-match press conference ahead of a friendly with Bayern Munich, said: “The decision has been made and we will stick to that. The decision is not to sell.”

Reacting specifically to Sanchez’s remarks about the Champions League, Wenger stated it was up to the 28-year-old, to get Arsenal back into Europe’s top competition after missing out last term.

“I don’t give too much importance to things that are translated, you know.

“The whole interview that I got didn’t really mean that.

“The main focus for us is to concentrate on the Premier League and the Premier League for me today is more important than the Champions League.

“We rested sometimes players in the Group stages of the Champions League for the Premier League so that’s become the biggest importance for us.

“For the rest… we played 20 years in the Champions League, that’s 17 years before Sanchez arrived and three years with him so he can get us back in there,” Wenger said.

PSG Renews Bid To Sign Arsenal’s Forward, Sanchez

Paris Saint-Germain is back in the chase for Arsenal forward, Alexis Sanchez.

According to the UK Mirror, the Ligue 1 outfit has contacted the player’s agent after Bayern Munich cooled their interest in Sanchez and are willing to go head-to-head with Manchester City, who are favourites to sign him.

The Chile international has so far refused to sign a new deal with the Gunners and last weekend, he admitted he wants to leave the Emirates, so he can play in the Champions League.

“I want to play in the Champions League. The decision isn’t down to me, I need to wait for Arsenal.

“I’ve made my decision, now I wait for Arsenal’s reply. The idea is to play and win the Champions League. I’ve dreamt about it since I was a kid,” he said.

PSG will feel they have the edge, as Arsene Wenger would be reluctant to sell to a direct Premier League rival.

Thomas Lemar Is The Right Guy For Arsenal – Pires

Former Arsenal midfielder, Robert Pires, has said that Monaco’s Thomas Lemar would be a perfect fit for the club. 

The Gunners have reportedly had two bids turned down for Lemar this summer, but are still hoping to lure the France winger to the Emirates Stadium.

“I love him as a player,” Pires told Sky Sports.

“For me, Thomas Lemar is one of the best French players there is. He can play on the left, he can play on the right, he can score goals and he can make assists.

“Lemar is the kind of player who can make a difference. He has the right profile to play for Arsenal, definitely. I hope for him and for Arsenal that it happens.”

Lemar scored nine goals and registered 10 assists, as Monaco won the Ligue 1 title.
