Arsenal are
increasingly confident they will be able to reach agreement with Mesut Ozil
over a new contract.
The UK Mirror reports that there have more positive talks,
with Ozil himself making it clear that he has no plans to leave the Emirates.
The German playmaker has been locked in a contract stand-off
for months as he has been demanding £350,000-a-week, while Arsenal have offered
£280,000-a-week.
However, Ozil has not been courted by other clubs like
Alexis Sanchez, who also has one year left on his deal.
Ozil came back happy after the summer holidays and has been
a hugely popular figure on Arsenal’s pre-season tour to Australia and now
China. But there is greater concern over Sanchez, who is attracting interest
from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
Both players can sign pre-contract agreements with foreign
clubs from January 1, 2018.
