LG Polls: We Will Defend Tinubu's Dynasty - Gov Ambode

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has vowed that he and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will defend the dynasty of the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, during Saturday’s Local Government election.

Ambode said this while speaking at Lagos House in Ikeja, during the presentation of flags to the chairman and vice-chairmanship candidates of the APC on Wednesday.

The Governor stated that a win for the party in all the elective positions would sustain the virtues which Tinubu stood for.

“This course is a course for the Asiwaju dynasty. So, we stand up today to say that we are here to defend that dynasty in totality,” Ambode said.

Ambode also appealed to aggrieved party members to bury their hatchet.

“All the things that we have done wrong, I want to say sorry, and I want to appeal to all members of the party. If we break the house, there would be no further canopy.

“So it’s better to call the plumber, the bricklayer, the electrician to come and do repair works, so that there would be somewhere for us to lie our head and sleep.

“I know there have been a lot of misgivings that has taken place, but what is important is for us to build the house together, thereafter we can do aesthetics to the windows and the doors so that those who are standing would be able to sit.

“This is like a gathering of peaceful co-existence. Wherever it is that we have had cracks, there are still more than a 1001 positions to compensate and also placate them that left in a negative way”‎, he said.

Ambode also urged all APC candidates, to go all out and ensure total victory for the party.

“It is better to cement the next four years through these chairmen and also complement the efforts of the next two years so that we can get another six years.

“So, if we decide because of disagreement or misunderstanding to destroy just two years out of eight years, there would be nothing left to show for the efforts,”‎ he added.

Tinubu Is My Leader - Gov Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has declared that a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu is his leader.

He, however, said he will never decamp to the party.

The governor, while giving reason for his declaration said Tinubu was nonpartisan in his appointments to Yorubas.

Fayose, who is the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors Forum made the disclosure while speaking at the 13th convocation lecture at the Benson Idahosa University in Benin, the Edo state.

According to Fayose, “I am the man to watch in this generation. So, I am controversial because I am doing things other men like me cannot do. They are scared. They are afraid; they don’t have courage.

“What I am saying to you is that controversy is necessary for democracy. We must have our voice.

“I am not an APC member and I will never be. But remember the fact that our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a courageous man in his own right, our leader in Yoruba land, forget about politics, if they give Asiwaju appointment, he will give a Yoruba man. Whether he is in the APC does not matter.

“‎And I came out strongly; I defended him. I am not defending politics. I am defending the truth. Our politics must have where we would stop it and say the truth as may be necessary.”

The Governor charged Nigerians to watch out for him, saying he will dare what most men of this generation can’t do.

Fayose, who also revealed the source of his power, said he draws strength from the Joshua 9v7 and also Joshua 1:6-7 in the Bible.

He said, “Some people chose to be under the table; they don’t want to die. They are afraid.

“But remember that the Bible says that those who want to gain their life will lose it and those that lose their life will gain it.

“My strength lies in God Almighty. If you put me inside running water, the water will become still. If you put me the den of lions, the teeth, the claws will go inside; you can find that in the Bible too.”

The governor, while quoting Joshua 1:6-7 and nine and 17, said: “I draw my power from those things (Bible passages). When I wake up, I lie down in my bathroom and say.

“Lord, many are the afflictions of the righteous. But the Lord God will deliver him from them all.”

Fayose had earlier declared that through God’s intervention he will emerge as the next President of Nigeria.

Fayose also went ahead to reveal how he protested his father’s decision to donate the only family car to late tele-evangelist Archbishop Benson Idahosa.

Nigeria Is In A "Civilian Dispensation", Not A "Full blown Democracy" - Tinubu

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said Nigeria is not yet a “full-blown” democracy.

The former Governor of Lagos stated this over the weekend, when he received the National Icon of Democracy award at the Tell Awards for Excellence.

The event was held at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island.

Tinubu, who was represented by former Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dele Alake, said: “This civilian dispensation that we have – we don’t call it full blown democracy.

“What we have today is a civilian dispensation. So, our democracy is a work in progress, and we believe by the grace of God that we’ll achieve full blown democracy in our time.

“So, every one of us must work towards full blown democracy in Nigeria. We all know the tenets and principles of full blown democracy. And we hope we shall achieve them in our own time in Nigeria.”

Ambode Has Outperformed Tinubu, Fashola - Bode George

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, has declared that he can never work with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu because he, Tinubu, plays the “Godfather kind of politics.”

George made the remark while reacting to a question from the Punch.

According to Goorge, “I don’t believe in Bola’s (Tinubu) concept of politics. Their concept of operation in the APC is different from the way I was brought up. A tree cannot make a forest. That is the difference between us. Let us collectively take up the mantle, not godfather kind of politics.”

The former Deputy National Chairman also commended the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode for the work he his doing in the state.

He said, “This young man (Governor Akinwunmi Ambode) is doing a great job in Lagos and I am impressed. I went round recently and passed through Epe, while going to Ondo State. I passed through the route several times as a governor of old Ondo State in 1990.

“ I was stupefied by what I saw. He is opening up the ancient villages with good road network and the quality of the road is amazing. Within two years, Ambode has outperformed Babatunde Fashola and Tinubu combined, in terms of infrastructural development, maybe because he is from the civil service.

“He is better than both of them with his achievements. But I can convince our people that when we settle the PDP crisis, we will present somebody who would be hundred times better than Ambode.”

Make Tinubu BOT Chair, Group Urges APC

The South-West Progressive Youths and People’s Movement, has called on concerned stakeholders to make a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu chairman of the All Progressives Congress’ Board of Trustees (BoT).

The group said the name ‘APC National Leader’ is “a mere title or nickname,” being conferred on Tinubu and does not have any office in the party.

They also lamented that Asiwaju Tinubu had not been treated well by the ruling party despite his contribution in bringing the current administration into power.

According to the National coordinator of the group, Comrade Ajayi Taiwo, they were unhappy with the way, which Tinubu, “our last man standing and a ‘chancellor of university of politics’ in Nigeria has been treated.”

He said. “The present administration will be two years in office in less than one and half months, and up till date, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who humbly sacrificed his political ambition and put all necessary machinery in motion is still addressed as national leader.”

The group also said that in the spirit of fair play and federal character, the BOT chairman should come from the South West and that Tinubu was the right heir
