JUST IN: Suicide Bomber Attack Leaves 10 Dead In Maiduguri

A female suicide bomber struck early Monday morning, killing 10 worshippers who came for prayers at a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The incident came on day after Borno State Police command said two boys, aged 8 and 10, came in contact with Boko Haram terrorists who strapped one of them with IED.

The bomb later exploded killing Gambo Bukar, while his friend, Umar Bukar sustained injuries and was hospitalized.

Boko Haram: 10 Dead As Suicide Bombers Attack Maiduguri

Ten persons reportedly lost their lives, while 21 others were injured as Boko Haram terrorists attacked residents of Molai, along Maiduguri, Damboa, Biu road in Borno State.

Residents of the area were thrown into confusion as bomb explosion ripped the city Tuesday night.

Residents said the explosion was heard around Molai Kura, an outskirt along the Maiduguri, Damboa road.

DAILY POST reports that the development forced some residents to flee their homes.

Although there is no official report as at the time of filling this report, sources hinted that the first explosion, which went off around 10:15 pm, was followed by another one.

He added that at an interval of one hour, the third explosion was heard.

A local, Bukar Alhaji Modu, who assisted in evacuation of both the dead and the injured told DAILY POST that three female suicide bombers and a male were involve in the suicide attacks on residents of Molai area.

Another source, a nurse at the state specialists hospital, who did not want her name and in print said some of the causalties brought to the hospital were sent to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital due to lack of equipment as their case was beyond what they have on ground.

“I don’t know how many that died but some human parts are at the morgue. It is so sad. I learnt some of the victims opened their door to one of the suicide bombers, who knock on their door, thinking it was a neighbour”, she added.

The Borno Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Victor Isuku confirmed that the state police Commissioner, Mr. Damian Chukwa was proceeding to the area for on the spot assessment of the situation.

Nigerian Air Force Helicopter Crashes In Maiduguri

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has confirmed the crash of its helicopter on Thursday.


NAF disclosed that the helicopter crashed into a pool of water in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Spokesperson of NAF, Olatokunbo Adesanya, who made the disclosure said no life was lost in the incident.

In a statement he signed, Adesnaya said the Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, has constituted a panel of inquiry to unravel the cause of the crash.

The statement reads, “A Nigerian air force (NAF) Agusta 109 light utility helicopter has suffered a mishap while undertaking a liaison mission targeted at further enhancing the synergy between the Nigerian army and the NAF in the ongoing counter-insurgency operation in the north-east.

“The incident, which occurred today, 6 July 2017, was as a result of an airborne technical fault with the helicopter.

“The experienced NAF pilots, however, successfully ditched the helicopter into a pool of water to minimise damage and loss of lives.

“Consequently, there were neither any injuries nor loss of lives to anyone on board or on the ground.

“The chief of air staff has immediately directed the constitution of a board of inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incident while efforts are ongoing to recover the helicopter and members of the board are already in Maiduguri to commence work.

“The NAF continues to solicit the understanding and support of the general populace as it daily strives to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians.”

Boko Haram: UNIMAID To Remain Open Despite Attacks

The management of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), has confirmed that official activities will continue at the institution, despite the attack by three suicide bombers.

The latest attack, believed to have been perpetrated by Boko Haram insurgents, occurred on Sunday between 10:19pm and 2.45am.

“Following an emergency meeting at which management reviewed the situation, it was decided that all official activities should continue uninterrupted.

“Management also reassures the university community and other stakeholders that the university will continue to ensure the protection of lives and property on campus.

“The second bomber, who found her way into the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, detonated her device and died on the spot. The third bomber was intercepted by vigilant security operatives behind the Works Department where she also detonated her device and died alone,” a statement signed by the Director, Unimaid Radio/Public Relations, Professor Danjuma Gambo, for the Vice-Chancellor read in part.

Boko Haram: Multiple Suicide Attacks Leave 16 Dead In Borno State


The Borno State Police Command has confirmed that sixteen people including some suicide bombers were killed in the explosion which occurred on Sunday night in the city while 13 others were injured and are currently receiving medical and surgical treatments at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital UMTH.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Damian Chukwu who disclosed this at a press briefing Monday in his office with journalists said, “Yesterday, 25th June, 2017 at about 22:21hrs, a male suicide bomber, gained entry into the premises of the University of Maiduguri, and detonated IEDs near the Rapid Response Services Office building.

The suicide bomber killed himself or died while three (3) University security personnel on duty were injured.”
“One of the injured security personnel, a female (whose identity was given as Becky Edubi), later died while being attended to at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.”

He added that, “In another development, at about 22:30hrs same night, Four (4) female suicide bombers infiltrated Zannari community in London Ciki-Gwange general area of Jere LGA of Borno state which is within the state capital. Two (2) of the suicide bombers detonated IEDs on their bodies in two residential buildings.”

“The suicide bombers died killing eight (8) other persons of the area while eleven (11) others were injured. And the third bomber detonated IEDs killing himself alone.”

“The fourth female suicide bomber, identity not known, who was arrested also died the same night as a result of injuries she sustained”, Chukwu added.

According to the Commissioner, “Yet in another development, today Monday, 26th June 2017 at about 04:08hrs. Two (2) other female suicide bombers detonated IEDs within the premises of University of Maiduguri. ”

“One detonated close to the Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition Centre Complex killing herself with no other casualty.

The other suicide bomber detonated behind Works Department complex also killing herself with no other casualty”, Chukwu said.

However, he said, EOD/SARS and patrol teams were mobilised to the scenes and the dead and injured were evacuated to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital UMTH.

” In all, sixteen (16) persons including the suicide bombers died in the multiple explosions while thirteen (13) persons were injured.” He said.

He, however, called on the public to be wary of any strange object or movement in their neighbourhoods and report to the nearest security agency for prompt respond while noting that, intelligence of all the security agencies in the state had collaborated and worked on intelligence assiduously day and night to ensure peaceful Sallah celebration.

The CP also assured that very soon, the issue of soft target bombings will be a thing of the past as police and military as well as other security agents were collaborating on how to strategize to end the problem.

18 Dead As Suicide Bombers Attack Dalori Camp

NEMA has confirmed the the multiple attacks on Kofa village in Borno State.


Abdulkadir Ibrahim, Information officer, NEMA North East, in an update to DAILY POST said a total of four suicide bombers were involved in the incidents.

According to him, two female suicide bombers were intercepted when they tried to gain access into Dalori 2 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp around 9am Monday morning.

Two other female suicide bombers also detonated their explosives at the adjoining Dalori kofa village at about 8.10 pm where they killed 16 people.

“The injured victims have been administered with first aid and transported to hospitals within Maiduguri for treatment,” he added.
