Nigerians Regret Voting APC - Ex-Gov Lamido

Former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido has stated that Nigerians are now regretting voting the All Progressives Congress into power.

Lamido called on the aggrieved PDP members ‎who dumped the party to immediately return as the party had bounced back strongly.

He made this known on Thursday at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the party secretariat in Dutse, Jigawa State.

According to him, arrangement has gone far to reconcile all aggrieved PDP Governors, Ministers, Senators, members of House of representatives and other members who dumped the party due to internal crisis that bedevilled it.

The former governor, who described the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as a disaster to Nigerians said, ‘reasonable Nigerians are regretting for voting APC into power.’

According to him, “the pattern of APC leadership lacks focus and direction as the party is a combination of minor political parties that have no good manifestos and prominent politicians that cannot take the country to the promise land.

“The PDP would soon hold an emergency stakeholders meeting on the possibility to extend the tenure of caretakers leadership of the party from 12 August to next three months to allow for a better restructuring of the party ahead of 2019 general elections.”

While speaking on the Jigawa State politics, the former governor said, Governor Muhammad Abubakar Badaru would soon regret sending him to prison as the action was nothing but an insult to the entire Jigawa people.

He added, “as a father in Jigawa, sending me to Kiyawa prison by the present governor Badaru is an insult to all Jigawa people, and I am assuring you that the governor must regret taking this action, and to me as politician, jail is nothing but rather just a fashion”.

Jigawa Declares Friday Public Holiday To Pray For Buhari

Jigawa Government has declared Friday, July 7, as a public holiday for public servants to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari’s quick recovery.

The Public Relations Officer of the state’s Head of Civil Service (HoS), Alhaji Isma’il Ibrahim, announced this in a statement in Dutse on Thursday.

Ibrahim said that the State Executive Council (SEC), took the decision at its sitting on July 5.

“During this day, it is expected that all public servants and the entire people of the state will pray to Almighty Allah to grant our president quick recovery.

“It is also expected that they will also pray to Almighty Allah to grant Jannatul Firdausi to late Danmasanin Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule,” he added.

Former Jigawa State Governor, Saminu Turaki Arrested By EFCC

An ex-governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki, has been taken into custody by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Recall that Turaki was in 2013 declared wanted by a Federal High Court, sitting in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

The former Governor is being investigated by the EFCC for allegedly mismanaging the state’s funds while in office.

It is reported that Turaki has been evading court appearance for his prosecution following which the court issued an arrest warrant.

LG Elections: APC Wins All LGs In Jigawa

The Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) on Sunday declared as winners, APC chairmanship candidates in all the 27 Local Government Areas of the state that contested Saturday’s council polls.

​A​ press statement signed by the Chairman of JISIEC, Alhaji Ahmed Sani, said the APC candidates won the elections ‘unopposed’.

It said that the election was conducted in line with the electoral laws, adding that all the candidates were declared winners by Returning Officers in their respective local government areas.​

The APC candidates declared winners were Alhaji Umar Musa, Auyo Local Government Council; Hudu Babangida, Buji Council; Muhammad Sani (Babura), Muhammad Dole (Birniwa), Muhammad Abdullahi (Birninkudi); Ibrahim Yargaba (Dutse), Ibrahim Ya’u (Gagarawa), Aminu Gumel (Gumel), Gali Muktar (Garki) and AbdulMalik Fagam (Gwaram)

Also declared were Jaji Adiyani (Guri), Abdullahi Daurawa (Gwiwa), Ibrahim Muhammad (Hadejia), Sa’idu Abdu (Jahun, Ahmad Marke (Kaugama), Salisu Garba (Kirkasama), Kiyawa Isyaku Adamu (Kiyawa), Garba Abdullahi (Kafinhausa) and Jamilu Zaki (Kazaure).

Others were Sani Dahiru (Maigatari), Muhammad Agufa (Miga), Sabo Musa (Malammadori), Salisu Sani (Roni), Abdulrashid Illa (Ringim), Jafaru Mohammed (Suletankarkar), Abdulmajid Isma’il (Taura), Dauda Dan-Auwa (Yankwashi) and Jaji Adiyani (Guri,

Reacting​, ​former gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in the state, Malam Aminu Ringim, described the election as an illegal exercise.

 “As law-abiding citizens, we did not participate in the election because of the court order; so, this is an illegal election.

“We are, therefore, waiting till September ​20, the date the court has set aside to hear the substantive case we filed before the it,” he said.

Jigawa Council’s Elections: Your Intimidation Will Not Change Anything Lamido Tells Badaru

A former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has said that no amount of intimidation from the incumbent Governor, Mohammadu Badaru Abubakar, will make the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lose steam towards winning the forthcoming local government council elections in the state.

Lamido said this at the weekend when he went to Kiyawa Prison to sympathise with three former commissioners and three ex-LGA chairmen that served under him.

Lamido was recently detained in prison custody for three days after the state government accused him of making inciting statements at a PDP gathering.

The former commissioners and LGA chairmen were on Thursday remanded in prison custody after their arraignment before Dutse Chief Magistrate Court II.

They were charged for criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust by public servants, disobeying direction of the law with intent to cause injury to the public, theft and forgery when they held sway as public office holders.

“It is simply a ploy to intimidate, terrorise, malign and demean so that they can be broken in terms of their courage to tow the line of the APC before the coming election.

“No power on earth can avert what God ordained. Those who are there now, before them there were others who were there,” said Lamido.
