Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has assured
Nigerians that the country's senior national men's football team, Super Eagles
will get their ticket to the 2018 World Cup next month.
The minister gave this assurance while speaking at the
General Assembly of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) at the Abuja National
Stadium on Thursday.
While praising the players for their dedication and
performances, the minister said "we will deliver the ticket to 2018 world
Cup on 7th October."
The Super Eagles are topping their World Cup qualifier group
with 10 points from four matches but are closely followed by Zambia who have
garnered 7 points from the same number of matches.
The two will do battle in Uyo on October 7th on Match Day 5
and a win or draw will guarantee the ticket for the Nigerian team.
"I am pleased with the Super Eagles and the NFF,"
Dalung said, adding that "we are going to train and train again to ensure
that we get the ticket at the end of the next match.”
