The Foxes are determined to have their £50m valuation for
their former PFA Player of the Year met before allowing him to leave.
They have yet to respond to Roma’s latest bid for their Algerian winger and do
not intend to be held to ransom by the Italians, who are threatening to
withdraw their interest and look elsewhere if they do not get a response by
Tuesday night.
Roma have already had bids of £20m and £26m turned down, despite 26-year-old Mahrez’s fear that he could miss out on the move.
Their director of football, Monchi, said last week: “In the last press conference I said we had bid what we believe to be a fair offer, which is also the biggest in the club’s history.
“We won’t bid again. We’ve conducted ourselves in the right way by talking to Leicester City. Now the ball is in their court.”
