The Director General of National Youth Service Corps(NYSC),
Brig.Gen. Sule Zakaru Kazaure, and the management of the scheme have made camp
drillings optional for the Muslims corps members in the ongoing Ramadan
fasting.
Kebbi State Coordinator of the scheme, Alhaji Lawal Turawa,
confirmed this at the permanent camp of NYSC, in Dakingari, while
addressing 2017 batch A stream I Corps members posted to the state for
their mandatory one year service.
According to him, ” the Director General and National
Management have fine-tuned the meal plan to be served and also camp drills is optional
for fasting corps members.”
He informed the corps members in the camp that the people of
Kebbi State were hospitable in nature and that the Muslim faithful in the state
would always come to assist them.
While appreciating the Kebbi State Government on the support
given to the scheme, Turawa said government’s policies towards corps members
have been friendly stressed that the government had done renovation works on
the camp.
“It is gratifying to note that the state government has
continued to pursue NYSC friendly policies whose implementation is a
source of strength for the scheme.
“We consider as very encouraging His Excellency’s directive
to all Corps employers in the state to ensure acceptance of corps members
posted to them”.
He added that state government gestures such ad prompt
payment of transport and monthly allowance to corps members provision of lodge
facilities and financial assistant to the scheme have improved the welfare of
corps members in the state.
