Acting President Professor Yemi Osinbajo has urged all and
sundry to work in harmony for the Nigeria project to be achieved.
Osinbajo called on those agitating for self independence to
bury the idea but work for peace and unity of Nigeria.
He made the call on the heels of ultimatum issued by
Northern youths on Igbos to relocate from their regions before October 1 this
year.
The Acting President who spoke in Ibadan the Oyo State
capital at the wedding ceremony of the former Interim National Chairman of the
ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande’s daughter, Wuraola
and Dr. Olawale Solabi noted that nations with different ethnic nationalities
were in a form of marriage.
He pointed out that quarrels and agitations can come up at
any time but insisted that the most important thing was for them to give peace
a chance and work in unity.
DAILY POST recalled that some youths in Northern Nigeria had
earlier urged citizens of Igbo origin to vacate the region before October 1.
He said “Today is a special one for Wale and Wura. Marriage
is a very large institution that requires a lot of prayers. It is the same
marriage that nations go through.
“Our nation has been in marriage for a while now. Sometimes
there are quarrels within that marriage. Sometimes there is disagreement. What
is important is that you must remain together. You must remain united.”
Present at the event include Senate President, Bukola
Saraki; Governors Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Oluwarotimi
Akeredolu (Ondo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and Muhammad Badaru (Jigawa).
Others include Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha who was
represented by Barr. Steve Azimozi, wife of the President Mrs Aisha Buhari who
was represented by Alh. Mohammed Aliu.
Other dignitaries include former Governors of Osun Prince
Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Engr. Segun Oni (Ekiti).
Top All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts who graced the
occasion include, Deputy National Chairman, Sen. Lawal Shuaibu, National
Secretary, Hon. Mada Buni and National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Chief Pius
Akinyelure.
Ministers at the event include Mrs Kemi Adeosun (Finance),
Lai Mohammed (Information and Culture) and Prof. Isaac Adewole (Health).
A former Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC), Mr Nuhu Ribadu and renowned writer, Prof. Adebayo Williams also graced
the occasion.
Ajimobi who chaired the occasion, advised the new couple to
live together in love, with specific advice to the husband to honour his wife
in all situation to pave way for blessings of God.
Ajimobi said “The only way to succeed in marriage is to run
your home with the fear of God.
“Never oppress your wife because she is a weaker sex. Be
nice and good to her always. And you will enjoy peace and be greatly blessed”.
