Manchester United are remain confident of completing the signing of Álvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
The Spain striker has reportedly told the European
champions, that he wants to leave the Santiago Bernabéu this summer.
With news that last season’s top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic
is leaving Old Trafford, United have moved quickly to secure Morata as his
replacement.
The Red Devils have offered around £60m for the 24-year-old,
after their first offer of £52m was rejected earlier this week. Madrid are
holding out for a fee closer to €90m (£79m), but could now be willing to accept
a compromise after holding talks with Morata’s representative, Juanma López on
Friday.
“Alvaro is a player who wants to play a more important
role,” López told Foot Mercato on Thursday.
“He wants to play more. Which is normal for an attacker who
has scored 19 goals.”,
United manager José Mourinho, is keen on Morata, who he gave
his first team debut at Madrid in December 2010.
