Former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has demanded for explanation on why Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has not sworn-in new ministers.
DAILY POST reports that Osinbajo, on Wednesday again failed
to swear in two confirmed Ministers, Stephen Ocheni (Kogi) and Suleiman Hassan
(Gombe) on Wednesday.
Osinbajo presided over today’s Federal Executive Council
(FEC) meeting inside the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in
Abuja.
Ministers are usually sworn in and assigned portfolios a
week after their confirmation by the upper legislative chamber.
Reacting, however, Fani-Kayode in a post on his Facebook,
said it was high time the people knew what has been stopping the Acting
President from exercise his power.
He wrote, “Why has Acting President Osinbajo not been
allowed to swear in the new Ministers that were cleared by the Senate? Who is
stopping him?
“Again first it was Junaid Mohammed and now it is the
Northern Elders saying that he cannot take over in 2019. Are southerners slaves
in Nigeria?”
