Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud scored for Arsenal, as
they beat Southampton 2-0 at St Marys on Wednesday night.
The Gunners’ hope of finishing in the top four were boosted,
after they defeated rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Arsene Wenger’s men kept that hope alive, by winning for the
first time at Southampton in 14 years.
Alexis left two defenders stranded before firing past Fraser
Forster. He became the first Arsenal player to score 20 goals in a season,
since Robin van Persie five years ago.
Olivier Giroud came off the bench in the second half to seal
all the three points, with a low header in the 83rd minute.
The win means Arsenal now sit three points off fourth-placed
Manchester City – having played the same number of games – and four points
behind third-placed Liverpool with a game in hand.
