The Acting Secretary of FCT Transport Secretariat, Malam
Abdulhamid Muhammad Suleiman, has said the Abuja light rail project which was
awarded in 2007 to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC)
has attained about 93 percent completion and will soon be ready for public
use.
He stated this while briefing newsmen yesterday on the
secretariat’s activities to mark the administration’s second year in
office.
Suleiman said that double railway tracks which cover about
60.67kms have been laid within the Federal Capital Territory, adding that
45.245km of the railway tracks have already been completed.
He added that the project date of completion is October 2017
while test run on the project will commerce from November this
year.
Suleiman also said the administration is developing a
five-hectare world class bus terminal in Nyanya as part of measures to improve
transportation in the territory.
