Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency,
NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside has challenged the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike
to make public the total amount of funds that accrues to the state every month.
Peterside threw the challenge when he spoke with journalists
in Port Harcourt over the weekend.
He said Rivers State gets huge sums of money from the
Federal Allocation, Internally Generated Revenue, among others, monthly.
The DG NIMASA accused Wike of running a government of
deceit, adding that the people of the state were aware of the corrupt practices
of the Governor.
Peterside said the Governor was yet to embark on any
meaningful project that couldd transform the lives of citizens of Rivers state.
He said, “The self-acclaimed name of Governor Wike as ‘Mr.
Projects’ is a joke. Governor Nyesom Wike as far as I am concerned has not done
any single major project since he came into office.
“Let him point to one single road project he started and
completed. None. He can’t point at any despite the huge sums of money that he
receives every month.
“We don’t know the total amount of money our state gets
monthly, put together with the IGR, FAAC, and even the Paris Club Fund.”
