President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the presidential
investigative panel probing the allegations against the suspended Secretary to
the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of
the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke, to suspend all government officials
linked to both cases, Daily Trust reports.
According to a source who spoke on Saturday, the president
gave the directive on Friday to the panel headed by Vice President Yemi
Osinbajo.
The source said, “The president has authorised the panel to
suspend all government officials linked to the two cases. He has asked the
panel to do this even before the conclusion of its assignment.
“The president has
been informed of the involvement of other government officials in the two
issues being investigated. More officials have been linked to these cases and
Mr President has given the panel the mandate to suspend more people.”
Recall that on Saturday the spokesman of the Vice President,
Laolu Akande in a statement said the panel “will leave no stone unturned” as it
carried out its duties.
