The vision of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State that "the only way out of the present economic quagmire is to reduce costs, plug leakages and improve internally generated revenue (IGR)" saw the monthly IGR of the State shoot from about N500m to N1.3b within his first 2 years in office.
Determined to achieve more, the governor announced a new target to “achieve a monthly IGR of N2.2B without increasing taxes”.
To actualize this, the government set up all the necessary channels to ensure: That all due taxes are rightly paid; that all leakages are blocked; and that the activities of illegal tax collectors are completely eradicated.
Recently, most of these illegal tax collectors were apprehended and many charged to court courtesy of the adequately inspired security agencies and the officers of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra State (OCHA) Brigade.
