The security dragnet of the governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano was stretched near its limits today in Atani, Ohita and Odekpe areas of Ogbaru LGA as dare devil armed robbers unaware of the existence of airtight security as put in place by Gov. Willie Obiano swooped on a Lebanese expatriate attached to TAMAD Construction Company, the company handling the Ossomala-Umunankwo-Mputu-Ogwuaniocha road, dispossessing him of two handsets and One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira (N160,000,00) at gun point after blastering his face with heavy fist blows.
Eye witness informed that the lady DPO incharge of Atani police station, SP Helen Nze, upon learning of the incident which occurred along Atani -Ozubulu road, led her men in a hot chase of the robbers who headed towards Ose Ogbe-ilo (Odekpe jetty) and immediately dived into an awaiting speed boat to escape to Oko in Delta state through the River Niger. Unscarred of the tides on the River Niger, the police DPO and her men boarded an available flying-boat on the bank of the River Niger and intercepted the fleeing armed robbers and arrested two of them who were armed with English made revolver and other ammunitions.
The armed robbers are now cooling off at Atani police station. Leaving a bitter lesson to other criminal elements that Anambra state remains a no-go-area for armed robbers and perpetrators of other violent crimes.
Kudos to SP Helen Nze, a rare policewoman. Big Ups for Chief Willie Obiano, a governor with the Midas touch.
